Sinus Surgery Procedures

Discover the surgical options for treating your severe or chronic sinus infection.sinus surgery

Anyone who has had to deal with the endless battle of sinus symptoms knows how difficult it can be to find relief. You’ve probably tried every over-the-counter or prescription medication possible and you’ve certainly made changes to your lifestyle and yet you still see no changes. This is where our otolaryngologists serving the Surprise, Sun City, El Mirage, Peoria and Glendale, and Sun City West, AZ, area step in. If you aren’t finding sinus relief then it’s time to consider sinus surgery.

Here are the different sinus surgery options:

Endoscopic surgery

With advancements in medical technology endoscopic treatment is often preferred to traditional sinus surgery since it is less invasive, boasts a faster recovery time and is less likely to cause complications. A popular sinus treatment is balloon sinuplasty, in which our Surprise, Sun City, El Mirage, Peoria and Glendale, and Sun City West ear doctor places a small flexible tube into the nasal passages. At the end of this scope is a deflated balloon.

Once the scope is inside the inflamed or blocked passageways, we will inflate the balloon to remove the blockage and to allow sinuses to properly drain. Once the nasal walls have been widened they will remain like this even once the endoscope has been removed. Most patients will not require additional treatment after this procedure, and patients often return to work within one to two days afterwards.

Traditional surgery

While endoscopic surgery may seem like the best option it isn’t always ideal for all patients. If we find that you have pus, an infection within the bones of the face or you have developed a brain abscess due to sinus complications then this surgery will be necessary to fully treat these more serious issues.

Who Needs Sinus Surgery

While most people won’t require surgery in order to address sinus problems, you may want to consider getting surgery if:

  • You have been diagnosed with chronic sinusitis
  • You’ve been following our medical treatment plan for up to six weeks with no changes in symptoms
  • You have nasal polyps or something that is preventing your sinuses from draining

Don’t let sinus pain, pressure and congestion affect your life. Turn to the ENT sinus specialists at Arizona ENT serving the Surprise, Sun City, El Mirage, Peoria and Glendale, and Sun City West, AZ, area to give you the treatment you need to breathe a little easier.
